During the spring months of September, October and November all the major foliage diseases of Pinus radiata in New Zealand may be seen. Confident separation of these disorders is important so that correct management decisions can be made.

Diagnosis at a glance

This illustrated flier describes the differences between the diseases  (Cyclaneusma needle cast, Dothistroma needle blight and Physiological Needle Blight) and also the similarities that can be the source of confusion.


The A4 double-sided leaflet, contains colour photographs showing symptoms on trees and needles. Available as a laminated sheet or trifold leaflet, it is designed for easy field reference.
