Poplar

Here you will find our information resources for poplar. Poplar is normally grown for erosion control in pasture. Poplars can reduce slips and provide shade, shelter and fodder for stock while having little impact on pasture growth. Poplar may also be grown for timber, either within a pastoral setting or as plantation forests.

Members of the NZ Farm Forestry Association have valuable experience to share. We recommend you join NZFFA, get involved with the Poplar Action Group, and visit some local growers to learn more about growing poplar for timber.
