Peter and Nikki Davies-Colley, Titoki, Northland branch

On this 300-hectare sheep, cattle and forestry property, a whole-farm approach is taken - trees are only planted on land too steep or difficult to cultivate. Poplars are planted to control erosion; also they have become a profitable cash crop. Peter discusses benefit of trees for farm income diversification, farm succession planning; also his own small-scale logging business.

Hi Peter,

I was most interested your'e video clip.We farm in the Central Hawkes Bay area and have literally hundreds of poplar trees which are about 45 yrs old and need thinning out badly. They have been planted quite densely and generally have pretty good form. I would be most grateful if you aware of any exporters of Poplar in our area if you could let me know. Look forward to hearing back from you, Marty Meredith
